Drug-infested Brooklyn, NY in the early 1980's was a tough place to grow up, but Darlene Swaffar is thankful for the experience. Navigating the mean streets of the notorious ‘hood taught the young woman how to survive and thrive through the use of critical thinking and compassion for others. Today, Swaffar uses those skills like a superpower.
Darlene Swaffar is not a Politician. If fact, she is not an establishment pick. Swaffar has lived and worked in South Florida as an entrepreneur for the past 30 years, and she understands what every day Americans have to go through in their efforts to raise their children in safe communities while trying to earn a living. Now, she’s determined to do whatever she can to help make the American Dream a reality for her and her neighbors by running for Congress.
Best known in her Deerfield Beach community as “The Medicare Lady” ™, Swaffar runs a successful Medicare Health Insurance Brokerage firm. Her background is in economic development, accounting and finance. Her expertise in corporate recruiting, as well as mortgage and insurance, will be valuable assets in Washington. She’s also highly-skilled in project management, strategic thinking and problem solving.
Never one to back down, Swaffar intends to question government over-spending and bring issues that affect “We the People” to the forefront.

Darlene Swaffar is running for the US House of Representatives for FL23, which encompasses Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Parkland, Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, Margate, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
As the first Hispanic woman to ever run for Congress in Broward and Palm Beach County history, Darlene represents the new face of the Republican Party.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Darlene moved to South Florida in 1993 and has called this area home for over 30 years. She runs a successful Medicare and Health Insurance Agency with 20 agents in Deerfield Beach, FL. Her company is a certified woman and Hispanic-owned business. Darlene's business background spans project management, accounting, finance, corporate recruiting, mortgage, insurance, business and private banking, marketing, and social media. Her goal is to bring her strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to Congress.

Why?
Through my father's Ancestry, my late 5th and 6th Grandfather's fought in the Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812. I learned that my 8th Great Uncle is Benjamin Franklin, one of the greatest founding fathers in our nation's history. Discovering this led me to studying the early history of our country, the foundation of the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. I learned that many sacrificed their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to give us the Liberty that we enjoy today. Many take this sacrifice for granted. I am working hard to preserve our Freedom which is the Inheritance for our Children. Continuing the Legacy of my family and protecting the future for our children is what this journey means to me.
